The Magic of Lotions and Potions

Our skin like rest of our body needs the utmost care. Lotions and Potions are a part of that skin care routine which helps us keep our skin healthy and fresh.

A lotion is essentially a thick liquid preparation that is applied on unbroken skin either for cosmetic or medical reasons. It is applied to external skin and used to moisturize, smoothen and soften the skin. It can be applied simply using our bare hands or a brush or cotton wool etc. They have a number of additives including fragrance especially in case of the ones made for cosmetic purposes.

There are many different varieties of lotions and potions mainly based on the various fragrances and consistencies that are on offer. There are also lotions meant specifically for various body parts. Usually a body lotion implies, it is meant for all parts below the neck. At the same time you also get specialized creams for feet, knees, elbows, hands and even for eye area. The lotions for face are usually gentler and milder. There are also one meant for specific usage such as lotion that can reduce stretch marks or acne. Most of us also use sunscreen lotions that save us from the harmful sun rays.

There are lotions that promise to slow down the aging process by lightening fine lines and tightening the skin and reducing the wrinkles. The ones for face vary in their thickness even in terms of time of application. Usually the ones meant to be applied during the day are much lighter than the ones we might apply at night. There are anti-cellulite versions that promise to melt the cellulite with regular usage of the cream.

There is a difference in composition of lotions as well. Some might be made using a mix of many chemicals, a few made of all natural products and most a combination of both these things. The lotions meant for babies and young children are much milder than the general stuff available in the market for adults.

There is also a variety of amazing fragrances available today. Be it lavender, aloe or almost good enough to eat cocoa butter.
